Symonds To Lead SummitMedia Richmond

• SummitMedia, LLC has tapped 40-year industry vet Dave Symonds as Director of Programming and Operations for the company’s Richmond cluster — Country WKHK (K95), Hot AC WURV (103.7 Your Variety), Classic Rock 96.5 WKLR, ’80s-based Classic Hits WJSR (Awesome 100.9) and ESPN Richmond (WURV-HD2).

Symonds most recently served as SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Connecticut until 2019, and Richmond is familiar territory — for 12 years Symonds was iHeartMedia Regional Program Manager overseeing Richmond, Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Salisbury-Ocean City, MD and Wilmington-Dover DE. Earlier programming stops include Entercom’s KOSI & KALC/Denver and OM/PD of Entercom Rochester, NY.

“Summit Richmond is excited to welcome Dave back to the Richmond market,” said Market President Bob Willoughby. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity of collaborating with him as a member of our team.” Symonds remarked, “After meeting with the Summit Richmond team, I was quickly swept up by their strength and creativity, as well as the opportunities and potential of these stations. I already respected Bob Willoughby when we were competing a few years back. Now, I’m excited to partner with him. Plus, it’s Richmond… I’m thrilled!”

Symonds succeeds Melissa Chase, who this week was named Brand Manager of Audacy’s KHMX and KKHH/Houston. He’s now in the building and can be reached at Dave.Symonds@summitmediacorp.com.
