• Kix Layton has been upped to SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Greenville, SC cluster — Hot AC WMYI (My 102.5), WROO (Real Rock 104.9), Country WSSL, Classic Country WESC and WGVL (Fox Sports 1440). Layton certainly knows the lay of the land — he most recently programmed WESC, and he’s also been the PD of WSSL for the past 17 years.

“I’m so excited to have Kix take over the Senior Vice President of Programming position in Greenville,” said Bill McMartin, Area President for iHeartMedia’s Asheville, Greenville and Greensboro markets. “His broad experience in the market with all of our brands, especially WSSL 100.5 and 92.5 WESC, our huge country stations, is invaluable. Everybody on our team is excited to have him.” Layton said, “I consider it an honor to be at the helm of Country music in the Upstate of South Carolina and in Asheville, North Carolina. Working with the team and community here in Greenville is going to be fun.”

• Midwest Television-owned Variety Rock KFMB-FM (100.7 KFM-BFM)/San Diego has rewarded market pro Robin Roth with APD stripes and the keys to the night show. Roth has more than 25 years of San Diego radio experience. She’s best known for her two lengthy tours of duty at Alternative 91X — 18 years the first time, followed by a three-year run at Active Rock KIOZ (Rock 105.3), and then back to 91X for six more years, four of those as MD. She joined KFM-BFM in October 2016.

PD Mike Vasquez stated, “Robin Roth is synonymous with rock and roll in San Diego, and having her on our programming team on a fulltime basis is going to make us stronger. She brings talent, knowledge and the will to do whatever it takes to win and I’m so thrilled to have her!” Roth commented, “I’m really excited about this new chapter in my career and am looking forward to working more closely with Mike V and the rest of the KFM-BFM radio family!”
