TJ 98.7 Welcomes… Umm… TJ
• Leading into the holiday weekend, Emmis regained operation of 98.7 WEPN/New York after the expiration of its LMA with Good Karma Brands, which, in turn, inked a new LMA with Audacy and relocated its ESPN programming over to 880AM, the former home of WCBS-AM. Anyhow…
With some spare time — and a major New York frequency — just lying around unattended for the long weekend, Emmis had some fun and launched TJ 98.7, “A Pop-Up Station.”
This unique programming rolled commercial-free through the weekend, while promoting “something special” was coming this morning — it didn’t take a Rhodes scholar to ascertain that, given the TJ 98.7 name and remarkably similar logos, WEPN would launch… wait for it... the Gemini XIII-syndicated The TJ Show in morning drive in Market No. 1. Ta-daaaa!
Late Monday, United Stations Radio Networks (USRN) made it official and formally announced the addition of The TJ Show on TJ 98.7, hosted by TJ Taormina, a former longtime veteran of Z100/New York. TJ 98.7 will also feature voices from YES Network and Inside Edition‘s Steve Kamer, and dynamic on-air personality, Jai Kershner. Radio.Cloud is powering the project with its cutting-edge cloud-based automation platform, allowing the network to customize local and national content.
Charles Steinhauer, COO of United Stations, remarked, “I want to thank Emmis Corporation for helping us continue our longstanding commitment to fun and new ideas in the audio space. The TJ Show has been growing in each market of operation — it’s unique and joyful, and I’m looking forward to the reaction of the NYC audience.”
Listen online at tj987.fm — while you can. The pop-up station will be available for a limited time. To learn more about The TJ Show, feel free to contact our buddy, Scotty “The Pit Bull” Meyers at 516-532-5342 or Scott@MeyersMedia.com.
