We Will Never Forget

• This morning, Sept. 11, 2018 marks the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America. In an effort to turn a day of tragedy into a day of doing good for our fellow humans, the 9/11 Day movement was formed — in 2009, President Barack Obama and Congress worked together to pass legislation that formally designated September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Please use this day as a chance to enact some positive change in your community — volunteer your time and donate at 911day.org.

Needless to say, 9/11 is especially painful in New York City — back in June, Crush recording artist MAX released a musical love letter to his hometown in the form of a single, “Still New York” featuring Joey Bada$$. The companion video, featuring the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, was shot all over the city and stars numerous New York celebrities like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Andy Grammer and The Chainsmokers, to name a few, along with a bunch of New York radio personalities, including Elvis Duran.

Today, in honor of 9/11/18, MAX will be a guest on Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, and we are told that “Still New York” will be played right out of the Moment of Silence at 8:46am ET. Tonight at 7pm ET, ESPN, in conjunction with the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York, presents Comeback Season — Sports After 9/11, anchored by Mike Greenberg. The 90-minute special will show how sports helped the nation heal following one of the darkest days in U.S. history and will close with “Still New York.”

> Art Vuolo‘s celebrated 2002 video NYC Radio: 9-11 remains the ONLY definitive record of what radio did on that terrible Tuesday morning 17 years ago today. It has been viewed over 60,000 times and many radio stations have used the audio portion because it still works well, even without the visual aspect. While the video may be less than HD quality, the content is still as jarringly powerful as ever!
