Ty Bailey Returns To Washington

Ty Bailey is coming back to our Nation’s Capital as the newly anointed Assistant Program Director/afternoon personality for iHeartMedia Country WMZQ/Washington, effective November 27. Bailey returns to the DC Region after a five-year run at Active Rock sister WXTB (98 Rock)/Tampa, where she most recently served as PD and morning show host. “I’m very excited to bring Ty Bailey back to Washington,” said Jeff Kapugi, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s DC Region. “She’s a proven programming leader and will fit right in at 98.7 WMZQ.”

Before she was dispatched to 98 Rock/Tampa as APD in July 2012 (and upped to PD in Sept. 2013), Ms. Bailey did middays at iHeartMedia’s WWDC (DC101)/Washington. Her previous programming experience includes a stint as APD/MD at WCHH (Channel 104.3)/Baltimore and she was PD of Galaxy’s K-Rock twins, WKRL/Syracuse and WKLL/Utica, NY. She began her career at WZNE/Rochester, NY and is a graduate of Ithaca College.

“Being given an opportunity to work alongside Jeff Kapugi and a list of superstar artists such as Garth, Brad, Carrie and others is a dream,” said Bailey. “I could not be more thrilled to return to iHeartMedia DC and help WMZQ conquer our Nation’s Capital!” Bailey succeeds JT Bosch, who transferred to Country sibling WKKT (96.9 The Kat)/Charlotte as APD/afternoon personality in August.

• Effective Monday, Nov. 27, Bailey will take over afternoon drive and Michael J will move to middays as Aly Jacobs exits. Kapugi is still looking for nights and an MD — interested candidates are urged to email him at JeffKapugi@iheartmedia.com.
