Wanted: OM For Saga Des Moines
• Saga Communications’ Des Moines Radio Group is losing one of its most valued 25-year programmers, as Scott Allen announced his impending departure to become VP of Marketing with “a local insurance company.”
As a result, the company now has the rarest of opportunities for a PD/Ops Manager to 1) operationally oversee the nine-station group, and 2) become the day-to-day PD of Hot AC KSTZ (Star 102-5) and AC KMYR (More 104.1). Star is consistently at the top of its game with Persons 25-54 and is No. 1 with Women 25-54. We have an amazing, winning morning show with Ken, Colleen and Kurt and we are in search of a true “coach” — beyond just weekly aircheck sessions. We want more than just a PD — this job will be filled by someone who cannot only direct, but who can truly inspire.
As Operations Manager you’ll also oversee legendary Classic Hits 93.3 KIOA and Rocker KAZR (Lazer 103.3), each with talented programmers of their own. You’ll also operationally supervise the other five stations in the Des Moines Radio Group.
We know that music is extremely important — but we also know that winning isn’t just about the music. Winning requires compelling content “between the music” that’s designed to deepen relationships, drive ratings and build revenue. This type of content has tentacles that reach far beyond just music on the radio. Your cover letter must tell us what all of this means to you, and then email everything you want us to see and hear to Saga VP of Programming Bob Lawrence at blawrence@sagacom.com.
• Please note: This is a big job for big talent and requires a minimum of three to five years of programming experience. For more market details, please visit dsmradio.com. Saga Communications is an Equal Opportunity Employer. No calls, please.
