Browning In Sunny Melbourne

• Joe Browning has been tapped as Operations Manager of Cumulus Media’s four-station group in Melbourne, FL, and he will also serve as PD/afternoon drive personality (as “Joe Kelley“) on Top 40 WAOA (WA1A). The other stations in the cluster are Classic Rock WROK (95.9 The Rock); Country WHKR (NASH FM 102.7) and Sports-Talk WLZR-AM (1560AM The Fan).

Browning (left) arrives in Florida from Corpus Christi, TX, where he spent the past few years as Corporate PD for Hometown Media’s 16 regional radio stations. The move to Melbourne marks a return to the Cumulus fold for Browning, the artist formerly known as “Crash Kelley,” who previously worked for the company from 2004-2015 in Lake Charles, LA, Macon, GA and Fayetteville & Ft. Smith, AR.

Gary Mertins, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Melbourne, said, “We’re super excited to have Joe joining our team as Operations Manager. We also look forward to having him lead our heritage Top 40, known along the Space Coast as ‘WA1A.’ Joe is a tremendous talent, an experienced broadcaster and I’m certain he will be an asset to our cluster.”

Browning said, “It’s been a longstanding career goal of mine to get the opportunity to work in this incredible market with such an amazing group of stations. What makes this even better for me is the amazing team already in place in Melbourne. I’m grateful to Gary Mertins and the entire Cumulus corporate programming team. Now I’m off to find the right SPF for that wonderful Florida sunshine.”

Browning succeeds Mike Vincent, who was recently hired by West Virginia Radio Corporation as PD/midday personality for Country WKKW/Morgantown, WV.
