Wayne Not Coy About Vegas Search

• After the COVID-19 budget crunch put an end to his 13-year run of hosting mornings at Alpha Media Hot AC KKIQ & KKDV in his native East San Francisco Bay area, veteran PD/morning host Wayne Coy announced he’s moving back to Las Vegas to seek new media opportunities. He previously spent 2005-2007 in Vegas working for Consolidated Media as SVP of Programming, and his extensive programming resume is also highlighted by leading big turnaround wins, most notably at the late, legendary WABB/Mobile, KQKQ/Omaha and WRVQ/Richmond, to name a few.

“Moving back home to the Bay Area in 2007 was right on many levels,” Coy tells RAMP. “Most important was improving the level of our kids’ education. Now that they are grown and we have options as a result of my position being downsized, other factors come into play. I loved living in Las Vegas. Two words: ‘energy and opportunity.’ It’s a wonderful place to re-invent, and I’m looking forward to pursuing whatever may be next, whether it’s on-air or in a position of leadership.”

Coy and his wife Nancy will be making their Vegas move in mid-September. “My first order of business is to re-assemble the Back In The Day Radio studio that we just had built for our streaming Classic Hits station,” he said. “After that, I’m all about creative content creation. This market is full of quality broadcasters and media outlets, and I’m confident there is a good fit for me and I’m looking forward to getting there.”

Career movement aside, we wonder if there’s any coincidence that this lifelong Oakland Raiders fan is making the move to the desert at the same time as his beloved Silver & Black? Coy responded, “Pure coincidence… and the rumors of my Oakland A’s moving to Vegas have nothing to do with it either!” Interested Vegas media outlets are invited to make contact with Wayne today at wcoyprod@gmail.com.
