Weiner Doubles PD Portfolio

Len Weiner just got twice as busy… and he doesn’t mind a bit — Weiner, who programs Entercom Sports-Talk WAXY-AM (790 The Ticket)/Miami was just handed the PD keys to Sports sibling 560 WQAM-AM. He will succeed Ryan Maguire, who is packing for a move to Seattle as the new PD of Bonneville News-Talk KIRO, effective March 12.

“Len’s leadership ability and knowledge of sports radio make him the perfect candidate to take on our two major sport stations in Miami,” said Keriann Worley, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom South Florida. “Adding the 560 WQAM Program Director responsibilities to Len’s current role is a natural fit. I’m confident both stations will continue as the top choice for Miami’s sports fans with Len on board.”

Weiner, who was named PD of WAXY in March 2014, has spent most of his career in Sports radio — he served for almost 12 years as the Program Director for the ESPN Radio Network, and his other programming stops include WGN/Chicago, KMPC-AM/Los Angeles and the ESPN Radio affiliates in Boston and Chicago. He was also VP of Programming for Genesis Communications in Florida from 2011-2014.

“I’m very excited to be able to work at Miami’s two premier sports radio stations,” Weiner said. “There is great talent on both teams, and to be part of a heritage station like WQAM and to continue to work on a successful station like The Ticket, is an amazing opportunity. I’m looking forward to it all. Thank you to Keriann Worley, Doug Abernethy, Chris Oliviero, Pat Paxton, Weezie Kramer and David Field for this incredible opportunity.”
