Weiss Gets Busy In Kansas City

Joel Weiss just touched down in Kansas City, hired by Cumulus Media in the multi-dimensional role of APD/MD of Alternative KCJK (X105.1) and Top 40 KCHZ (95-7 The Vibe). Weiss will also do 8-midnight weeknights on X105.1, following The Afentra Show.

Weiss was most recently MD of Beasley’s WBOS/Boston until mid-April, when the station flipped from Alternative to Classic Rock. A graduate of Boston’s Emerson College, Weiss notably spent 13 years as Music Director and an on-air personality at Cox Media Group Alternative WSUN (97X)/Tampa.

In making the announcement, Mike O’Reilly, PD of KCJK and KCHZ, said, “The timing of being able to integrate Joel into our X and Vibe brands is truly remarkable. It’s not every day you find such a creative, talented programming vet with Joel’s unique skill set and unanimous favor in the industry.” Donna Baker, RVP of Cumulus Media’s Midwest Region, added, “The talented programming teams led by Mike O’Reilly have grown both of these important brands exponentially in Kansas City. Joel’s experience as a strategist with a proven record of winning is exactly the partner these teams can count on to further growth for the long-term.”

Weiss commented, “From my first conversations with Mike O’Reilly and Troy Hanson, through my visit to KC, this felt like a unique opportunity to work with amazing people. I’m so psyched to join the Cumulus family… and also to watch Patrick Mahomes play football every week this fall!”
