Weiss Named PD of WBOS/Boston
• Beasley Media Alternative WBOS (ALT 92.9)/Boston has hired Joel Weiss as its new Music Director, with a start date of August 6.
Weiss heads north into Red Sox country after 13 years as Music Director and on-air personality at Cox Media Group Alternative WSUN (97X)/Tampa. The move also marks a long overdue return to Boston for Weiss, a graduate of Emerson College. Earlier in his career Weiss spent a year in New York working as the Director of Music Content and morning host at online radio app start-up company, Satori.
WBOS PD Ken West said, “I’m excited to welcome Joel to ALT 92.9. He loves music, loves radio, and loves Boston. His passion and energy for the Alternative format will help push ALT 92.9 to new heights!”
The ALT 92.9 MD position has been open since John Mullett left in March to become PD of Triple A WNCS (The Point)/Burlington, VT.
