WFAN Inherits Rutgers Basketball
• Rutgers University’s men’s basketball broadcasts, formerly heard on the now defunct WCBS 880/New York, are relocating over to sister WFAN for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The move will unite Rutgers’ men’s basketball and football on the same frequency, as WFAN will continue to serve as the flagship station of Rutgers football.
“Audacy and Rutgers have developed a strong partnership which now goes to a whole new level with basketball joining football on the Tri-State’s premiere sports platform, WFAN,” said Chris Oliviero, Market President, Audacy New York. “A strong recruiting class has the fan base excited for this basketball season as WFAN’s own Jerry Recco chronicles the journey from start to finish.” As the voice of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Recco is entering his ninth season on the call. and now his play-by-play will be heard on his home station, WFAN, where he provides sports updates weekday mornings on Boomer and Gio.
