Williams Benched After Harassment Claims
• Greg “The Hitman” Williams, longtime Brand Manager and morning personality on Audacy Rhythmic KDGS (Power 93.5)/Wichita has been taken the air while the company investigates shocking claims of sexual harassment leveled against him by now-former Power 93.5 afternoon personality Johnny “DJ Koolout” Starks, who was recently terminated after six months (specifically, “206 days,” by his account), allegedly for “not being a good fit.”
Starks shared the details of his alleged unwanted men’s room encounter with Williams — and his subsequent termination by Williams and Market Manager Jackie Wise the following day, before he could share his side of the story — in an explosive and exhaustively detailed account posted to his Facebook page, the details of which have already been widely shared via social media — and a local TV station, as CBS affiliate KWCH-TV has extensive coverage of the events, including an on-camera interview with Starks, who noted that he filed a police report after the incident and says he’s planning to take legal action, including filing a wrongful termination lawsuit.
Starks (left) joined Power 95.3 in January of this year, relocating from Chicago, where he originally launched his radio career at Kennedy-King College’s WKKC 89.3/Chicago. From there, he held various positions at WGCI/Chicago and WIKS (101.9 Kiss FM)/Greenville-New Bern, NC, as well as numerous TV and film roles.
RAMP immediately reached out to an Audacy spokesman, who issued this statement: “We’ve recently become aware of certain allegations made by a former employee against Greg Williams. We take these issues seriously and will investigate them fully. While we investigate, we have no further comment.”
For his part, Williams posted this brief statement on his Facebook page, that reads, “Here is my statement regarding the false allegations against me. The allegations being spread on social media by a former employee can never be proven because they are not true. I will share more at the appropriate time in the appropriate way.”
When reached by RAMP via email over the weekend, Starks replied, simply, “This is all so unbelievable and I am in a state of shock.” [Williams photo: LinkedIn]
