WJBR Continues, Online & HD

• Following this week’s closing of the sale of Beasley’s WJBR (Mix 99.5)/Wilmington, DE to religious broadcaster VCY America — and the departure of morning duo Deanna Marie & Justin Franiak and midday market icon Mike Rossi, the company announced that the “Your Mix from The ’80s to Now” format will continue to be heard, albeit jockless, along with local news — on the HD-2 signal of sister 95.7 WBEN-FM/Philadelphia and on wjbr.com and the JBR app.

“We saw huge audience increases in 2023 and wanted to still be there for our loyal listeners,” said WJBR PD Eric Johnson, who, as we previously reported, will assume the PD chair at Classic Rock sister WMGK/Philadelphia (where he currently does middays) on Jan. 1. “We will continue to keep this brand, that has been loved by the community for past 66 years, going on these digital platforms,” Johnson said. “Listeners will be able to enjoy our fun, unique feel-good ”80s to Now’ mix, and during the holidays with our legendary Christmas music format!”

Franiak will continue to do weekends on Country sister WXTU/Philadelphia as he and Deanna Marie seek their next morning opportunity. Several WJBR sales staffers do remain with the company: Jim Antes (Sales Management); Greg Beran (Digital Sales), and Trent Caldwell (Sales).
