WMGK To Rebrand As ‘102.9 Boss Radio’

• Beasley Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK/Philadelphia kicked off “Bruce Week” on Monday in anticipation of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s return to the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday, March 16.

All week, WMGK’s programming includes numerous music features, archive tracks and interviews each day, and midday jock Matt Cord and afternoon personality Andre Gardner will give away the last free tickets to the sold-out show. In addition, individual album tracks and multi-song blocks of the band’s music will be featured on the air each day.

The excitement will reach its creative crescendo starting at 6am Thursday, when the station will temporarily flip format and rebrand as 102.9 Boss Radio in honor of Philadelphia’s adopted son, Bruce Springsteen and his E Street band.

Andre Gardner will host pre-concert coverage on Thursday beginning at 2pm and feature an exclusive conversation with E Street guitarist Little Steven Van Zandt. At 7pm, 102.9 Boss Radio will continue with a concert replay of Bruce & The E Street Band’s longest-ever U.S. performance, recorded live at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park on September 7, 2016. The 4+ hour concert will be carried in its entirety without commercial interruption.

PD Bill Weston said, “We know fans are going to flip as well, when they realize WMGK is going all-Springsteen all day.”
