WPRO Names News-Talk Pro
• Cumulus News-Talk WPRO-AM/Providence has named Neil Larrimore as its new PD. Larrimore is a 20-year format vet who most recently worked for iHeartMedia as Arizona Region Director of Spoken Word Programming, overseeing News-Talk KFYI-AM, News-Talk KOY-A (KFYI 2) and Sports-Talk KGME-AM/Phoenix and he also served on the strategy team for News-Talk duo KNST-AM and KTZR-AM/Tucson. Before that Larrimore spent seven years programming Entercom Talk duo KMBZ-AM & FM/Kansas City. Earlier in his career Larrimore was APD of WHIO-AM/Dayton, OH and he also worked in the Philadelphia market back in the day at Beasley’s WWDB and Salem’s WFIL and WZZD.
Holly Paras, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media Providence, said, “The impact of Neil’s vast experience in the spoken word format will no doubt be felt immediately. His ability to think strategically and use the digital platforms to grow the already-successful brand will be a welcome addition to WPRO.” Larrimore remarked, “WPRO-AM is one of the country’s legendary news and talk radio stations. It is an essential part of the fabric that makes up not just Providence, but the entire state of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. I’m honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to join this great group of broadcasters and to continue its legacy.” Larrimore succeeds Tony Mascaro, who exited at the end of June.
