Your ‘Q’ To Listen To ‘The New QYQ’
• Mid-West Family Broadcasting worked late into the night shuffling the programming on two of its St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, MI stations — News-Talk 94.9 WSJM and Sports-Talk 1400 WSJM-AM have morphed together onto 94.9, while the AM’s translator W291DK at 106.1 has flipped to Alternative as “106.1 The New QYQ,” along with shiny new WQYQ call letters. FYI: WSJMSports.com will continue to offer a 24/7 feed of ESPN Radio.
The New QYQ will feature today’s Alternative artists like Cage The Elephant, Billie Eilish, Twenty One Pilots, AJR, KennyHoopla, Tame Impala, etc., and will be programmed by Bill Gamble, GM of Mid-West Family’s South Bend, IN group. “The New QYQ isn’t your older brother’s Alternative station,” Gamble noted. “If you’re looking for Pearl Jam and Nirvana, you’ll be disappointed. The New QYQ is about today and all the great new music being produced — the New QYQ’s playlist is a blend of New Rock, Indie Rock, Hip-Hop and Punk, with a dash of Pop and a few love songs mixed in.”
