Blaze Heats Up Hot 96.9/Boston

Beasley Rhythmic AC WBQT (Hot 96.9 FM)/Boston has filled its afternoon drive vacancy with the talents of market vet Bobby Blaze. Blaze starts today at 3pm and succeeds Jackson Blue, who last month made the transition to morning show co-host across the hall on Country cousin WKLB. This new gig marks a return to radio for Blaze, a native of Springfield, MA who is best known for his decade in afternoons across the street on iHeartMedia Rhythmic WJMN (Jam’n 94.5). More recently he had been doing part-time on Hot 96.9.

In making the announcement, Cadillac Jack, Director of Programming for Beasley Media Group Boston said, “We couldn’t be happier to welcome Bobby Blaze back to the Boston afternoon airwaves on Hot 96.9, and look forward to many more years of having fun and winning together.” Mary Menna, VP/Market Manager of Beasley Boston commented, “Bobby is a well-known personality in Boston and has a great connection with our audience. We’re excited that he will be rejoining his friends on the Hot 96.9 team.”

Blaze exclaimed, “I’m so excited to be back on Boston radio and being surrounded by the most talented on-air team in Boston. You only become great when you’re surrounded by great people, and that’s what Hot 96.9 represents. I want to thank Mary Menna, Cadillac Jack (the Bill Belichick of Programming), [APD] Scott Morello and special thanks to Roy Barboza…I’M BACK!”

The revised Hot 96.9 line-up now looks like this — Mornings: The GetUp Crew with Ramiro, Pebbles, Melissa & Wiggy; Middays: Deirdre Dagata; Afternoons: Bobby Blaze; Mixes (9am, noon and 4:15pm): DJ Roy Barboza, and weekends: Reggie Beas.
