Boston’s New Morning Choice
Exciting news from Entercom’s month-old Boston Urban AC station, WKAF (97.7 FM, Boston’s #1 For R&B) — The Morning Wake Up with KJ and Kesha debuts today, featuring the newly minted wake-up team of KJ Carson and Kesha Monk. For Carson (left), this means a welcome return to Boston radio after 17 years — he notably did mornings at the late, legendary WILD-AM/Boston back in the day. His career began in Greensboro, NC and he’s also worked in Charlotte, Kansas City, Atlanta and Washington D.C. Carson said, “I’m very humbled and honored to come back to Boston. I feel like I have been blessed in a way that words cannot describe.”
Kesha Monk has done radio New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. She’s the product of a musical family; both of her parents were professional gospel recording artists and her great uncle was the legendary jazz musician, Thelonious Monk. “I’m looking forward to entertaining, inspiring, uplifting and encouraging our Boston listeners and beyond,” says Monk.
Delivering on his promise to hire a local air staff, 97.7 FM PD Chris Malone said, “It’s incredible to be a part of a company committed to investing in outstanding local personalities. We received interest from all over the country, but I’m positive Boston will quickly embrace The Morning Wake Up with KJ and Kesha.” Malone says other personalities will be announced soon.
