Breeze Stiffens In Philly, Sacramento

• iHeartMedia Philadelphia announced the new lineup for Soft AC WISX (106.1 The Breeze), and, as you might expect, its full of familiar names and faces — let’s start in morning drive, where renowned market vet Valerie Knight will roll from 6-10am. Knight, former co-host of The Breakfast Club on Entercom Classic Hits 98.1 WOGL will bring back her Show Biz Buzz entertainment report and cruise through 106 minutes of non-stop music each weekday morning.

The midday show will be piloted by another Philly favorite — Helen Little, former Operations Manager of WUSL (Power 99). She will retain her current midday shift on AC sister WLTW (106.7 Lite FM)/New York. Dan Blackman, former afternoon host on WBEB (B101)/Philadelphia will drive you home from 2-7pm, followed by the Premiere-syndicated Delilah from 7-midnight. “This incredible line-up gives our listeners voices they have been familiar with for years in Philadelphia,” said Brian Check, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Philadelphia. “We now have an array of popular on-air talent who each have a strong following of fans and will be the perfect hosts of our new format.” 106.1 The Breeze debuted on November 12, 2018, becoming the only station in the Philadelphia market to play relaxing favorites, featuring artists such as Celine Dion, Chicago, Whitney Houston and Air Supply.

• Meanwhile, some 2,800 miles to the west, iHeartMedia Sacramento announced that market vet Paul Robins is joining AC sister KBEB (92.5 The Breeze) to do afternoon drive, effective Friday, February 1. The station is also picking up Delilah, Sunday through Friday from 7-midnight. Robins, who now leads William Jessup University’s Digital Communication and Design Bachelor of Arts degree program, will host the show from the University’s studio, using the opportunity as a teaching tool for his students.

The move marks a return to 92.5 for Robins, who notably spent 20 years on the frequency (when it was KGBY) as half of The Paul and Phil Show. He has also worked in Detroit and Dallas. Robins also won two Emmy Awards and just wrapped up ten years as the morning news anchor on FOX40/Sacramento.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that Paul has agreed to join 92.5 The Breeze,” said Curtiss Johnson, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Sacramento. “Nobody in Sacramento knows this music more than Paul Robins. He is a trusted and beloved personality and a downright institution in our city. I can’t wait for him to keep Sacramento relaxed on the drive home every workday.” Sara McClure, Market President for iHeartMedia Sacramento, commented, “Bringing Paul back to 92.5 The Breeze was my goal. Securing Paul with a newfound collaboration with William Jessup University takes this move to a whole new level. We have so many endless possibilities for our future broadcasters with this cutting-edge educator.”
