Bruce St. James Exits WLS/Chicago
• “Arizona, I’m coming home.” And so began this latest Facebook post by Bruce St. James, who broke the news that he’s leaving his morning show on Cumulus News-Talk WLS-AM 890/Chicago and is headed back to Arizona. “Chicago is an amazing city and I truly enjoy it here (even with the snow!), but for a variety of reasons I need to be back in the Valley,” he said.
St. James made his WLS debut on Dec. 14, 2020, succeeding Erich “Mancow” Muller. It was a major transition after a lengthy run in Phoenix, more recently a decade-long run co-hosting the 9am-noon show with Pamela Hughes on Bonneville News-Talk KTAR. St. James most notably reigned for 13 years as PD of Rhythmic KKFR, followed by a brief stint programming CBS Radio Rhythmic KZON (101.5 JamZ) and Country KMLE until May 2010, when he made the transition to Talk and joined KTAR.
In closing, St. James said, “I’ll immediately throw myself back into the Colten Cowell Foundation, Children’s Cancer Network and The Joy Bus and am looking at some different opportunities, some in radio, some not. Thanks again for being a part of this ‘community,’ and fear not, I’ll continue to fill Facebook with inappropriate memes, random thoughts and a blistering hatred for left-lane campers. Onward!”
