Carlini Wakes Up With Wheels
• iHeartMedia Classic Rock WLLZ (106.7 Detroit’s Wheels)/Detroit has wisely availed itself of the lengthy market heritage possessed by Anne Carlini, hiring her to anchor the morning show, starting this week. The shift was last occupied by Bill McAllister, who exited in November.
Carlini notably spent 30+ years across the street with Beasley Active Rock WRIF/Detroit until Dec. 2019, when she was downsized from middays, along with PD Mark Pennington and several other cluster employees during a round of year-end budget cuts.
An elated Carlini broke her own news with a short video posted to her Facebook page, and later issued this comment, which reads, “I’m so excited to be the morning show on Detroit WLLZ 106.7. The first station I worked for in Detroit was the original WLLZ so this is a home coming for me. It’s also fantastic to join a team that includes my former colleagues Doug Podell and Trudi Daniels. This is a great opportunity to get to lead a morning show and I credit [PD] Casey Krukowski and iHeartRadio for having faith in me.” Krukowski commented, “We are excited to welcome Anne Carlini home to WLLZ where she got her Detroit radio start.”
