Carton Makes Early WFAN Appearance

Craig Carton isn’t formally returning to Entercom Sports-Talk WFAN/New York until Nov. 9, co-hosting the afternoon drive show with Evan Roberts, succeeding the retiring Joe Benigno, but he did make a special advance appearance Thursday afternoon. Carton held court from 5-6pm, where he reintroduced himself to the audience, candidly reflected on the last three sometimes tumultuous years of his life (including his well documented gambling addiction, arrest due to a ticket-selling scam, his termination and subsequent stint in federal prison), discussed his highly anticipated return to the station, spoke with new co-host Evan Roberts and even took a call from his former longtime morning co-host, Boomer Esiason.

For fellow radio geeks, the full audio from Thursday’s appearance is posted online, and you can check out a brief highlight video, courtesy of RADIO.COM & WFAN 101.9 FM/660 AM, and, if you haven’t seen it yet, we highly recommend you watch the excellent HBO documentary that chronicles Carton’s meteoric rise — and spectacular fall — Wild Card: The Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth.
