• Cumulus Cincinnati opts to keep it in the family and appoints cluster vet Jim Day as the new morning host on Classic Hits 103.5 WGRR. He will succeed the heritage morning duo of Chris O’Brien and Janeen Coyle, who retired from WGRR on Dec. 22 after a 28-year run.

The good news is, Day has a short commute to his new gig, as he unplugs from afternoon drive on AC sister WRRM (Warm 98.5) and rolls down the hall.

Jon Laing, VP/Market Manager, Cumulus Cincinnati, said, “We’re thrilled to have Jim continue the tradition of great local radio in mornings on WGRR-FM. Listening to Jim on the radio is just fun. His energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and that’s what radio is all about.” Keith Mitchell, PD of WGRR, commented, “Jim will be a great addition to the WGRR team, and he only has to move his headphones about 30 feet. While never easy to replace a long-running show, Jim will bring energy, enthusiasm, and fun to mornings.”

No stranger to waking up way too early, prior to joining Cumulus Cincinnati in 2016, Day did mornings on WHKO/Dayton, OH, KWEN/Tulsa, OK, and WSM-FM/Nashville.

“I’ve worked ‘just down the hall’ from Chris and Janeen for the last seven years and never imagined I would be considered to take over mornings at WGRR,” Day remarked. “I was surprised to be asked, and I’m honored to take on the challenge. But more than all of that, I wish the happily married couple an amazing retirement!”
