Cooper Takes PM Drive At The Block/Charlotte
• Radio One Urban WQNC (92.7 The Block)/Charlotte has tapped longtime company vet Cam Cooper for afternoon drive, starting Monday, April 19. Cooper will succeed DJ AngelBaby, whose last day is Friday as she now fully focuses on her co-host role on the recently launched The A.M Clique with Porkchop and AngelBaby on Radio One sister WERQ (92Q)/Baltimore.
Cooper started with Radio One as a board op at WERE-AM/Cleveland in February 2007 before transitioning across the hall to WENZ (Z107.9) as an on-air talent and morning show producer. In June 2010 Cooper was named Imaging Director for Radio One Richmond and night jock on WCDX (iPower 92.1), later elevated to afternoons. In September 2019 Cooper accepted a position with Radio One Philadelphia as Imaging Director and on-air talent, where he remained until being temporarily sidelined due to the pandemic.
The Charlotte move reunites Cooper with his former Richmond boss Jeff “Uzi D” Anderson, now OM of Radio One Charlotte, who said, “I’m ecstatic to be working with Cam again. His energy, creativity, passion for community and his ability connect with our target audience will make an immediate and positive impact to 92.7 The Block and take Charlotte by storm!” Cooper commented, “I’m excited to be in the Queen City to grow the ratings, increase revenue and expand our footprint in the community. I look forward to being an asset to this already amazing team and it’s a blessing to be working back with Uzi and our GM Marsha Landess. Let’s get to it!” Cooper rolls weekdays from 2-7pm, joining a Prime Time show line-up that also includes The Morning Hustle from 6-11am, followed by Jackie Paige from 11am-2pm.
