Dalessandro Unplugs From WMIL
Closing the book on a successful two-decade-long run with iHeartMedia Country WMIL (FM 106.1)/Milwaukee, Karen Dalessandro of the Karen, Scott & Radar with Shannen morning show yesterday publically announced her retirement. Her final show will be tomorrow. Dalessandro’s husband, Doug Burton, shared his thoughts about the end of this chapter in a touching Facebook post, as he said, “Today my amazing wife, Karen Dalessandro announced her retirement from morning radio. I am so in awe of her 19 years leading the WMIL morning show… Two CMA Personality of the Year awards and a 2015 induction into the Country Radio Hall of Fame. Not to mention the lives that she has touched and that have touched her as many people in Milwaukee literally grew up listening. Congratulations on a remarkable radio story.”
In a statement, Kerry Wolfe, iHeartMedia SVP of Programming, Great Lakes Region remarked, “We appreciate all of Karen’s contributions to WMIL during her time with us and wish her the very best in her next chapter! The morning show will continue on schedule.”
Ms. Dalessandro may be done with morning radio in Milwaukee, but she has apparently left the door ajar for future possibilities, as her husband’s post continued, “If anyone is programming Country in the Sun Belt, has middays or PM drive open, I know an amazingly unique talent that will rock it! She may be done with her alarm clock but there’s some amazing radio left to deliver.”
