Daughtry Completes ‘Q Morning Crew’

• After a lengthy search, Curtis Media Group Country WQDR/Raleigh has named Amanda Daughtry as the new co-host of the Q Morning Crew, alongside longtime morning personality Mike Wheless. The station began that quest back in March, when co-host Janie Carothers announced she was stepping back from the Q Morning Crew while continuing to do part-time/fill-in work.

Originally from Johnston County, NC, Daughtry spent the last decade as a working singer-songwriter in Nashville. She was a featured performer at some of Music City’s most famous honky-tonks and an opening act for Alan Jackson on his 2019 stadium tour. Daughtry moved back to North Carolina in March to be closer to family and recently auditioned for the position alongside Wheless.

WQDR PD Mike Biddle commented, “Amanda has natural talent. She and Mike had instant chemistry which we could not deny. Together they are a winning combination.” Daughtry said, “I was raised on ‘QDR and I’m thrilled to be a part of such a legendary station and to get to work with Mike Wheless.” For his part, Wheless said, “Amanda’s personality and energy will surely catapult this show to new highs. She has an amazing gift with people.” Trip Savery, President/COO of Curtis Media Group, noted, “Our listeners have been very vocal in their support for Amanda to be selected for the Q Morning Crew, and we are looking forward to much continued success with her joining our very talented team.”

The Q Morning Crew has been recognized as CMA Personalities of the Year multiple times, most recently in 2019, and by the ACM, most recently in 2017. WQDR has been recognized as CMA Station of the Year in 2011, 2014 & 2017, and ACM Station of the Year in 2009, 2011 and 2020.
