Drivetime With A Difference @ WGAR

• Bright and early this morning in the great city of Cleveland, listeners of iHeartMedia Country WGAR will notice a few key drivetime moves — PD Carletta Blake (left) is moving from afternoons to morning drive, plugging in alongside current host/APD Steve Wazz to form… wait for it…Wazz & Carletta Mornings, which debuts today.

Current morning co-host LeeAnn Sommers (right) promptly tosses out her alarm clock and moves to afternoons, enabling her to spend more quality morning time with her family, including her recently adopted daughter. Blake commented, “LeeAnn is a staple of Cleveland radio and we’re thrilled for her new family; I’m glad as her PD we could help make her lifestyle fit her family’s needs and that we get to keep her on WGAR! We’re all very excited and supportive of each other for the changes coming!”

For Ms. Blake, the move to mornings fulfills what she called “the ultimate dream,” as she explained in this emotional Facebook post: “When I got my first radio job in Dallas in 2004, if you would have asked me what my dream job was, I would have told you morning radio. That was the ultimate dream. I’ve chased the dream a few times and it didn’t come to fruition. Over the years, my career started a different path into programming, which I absolutely love. So, my dreams altered with new goals to match the way things were going and I was okay with that. I love my job.

“Then, something crazy happened. Our morning co-host, LeeAnn, has adopted a beautiful new daughter and her life at home is different. Which means her work life needed to be different. And all of a sudden, an almost 20-year dream of mine was back on the table. It’s a strange thing to see a dream you’ve had that long come true. I’m actually crying while writing this, haha. I promise I’ll do my best to live up to making your mornings unforgettable. And I get to do it with one of my closest friends.”
