Everything But Sports For Smith & Cronin
• iHeartMedia’s News Radio 600 KOGO/San Diego just debuted Not Sports with Darren Smith and Jack Cronin. The new show airs weeknights from 7-8pm. For both gentlemen, the new project involves a very short commute — Smith currently hosts the popular Darren Smith Show from noon-3pm weekdays across the hall on XTRA Sports 1360, while Cronin is the co-host of San Diego’s Evening News on KOGO from 6-7pm, leading directly into his new show with Smith.
Darren Smith has been a prominent voice in San Diego sports radio since 2004. Before that, he worked at ESPN Radio in Bristol, CT from 1998-2002, where he helped launch ESPN’s 24-hour format. During his tenure, Smith also produced several programs, including The Dan Patrick Show.
“When Darren chose to join us at iHeartMedia San Diego, it was clear that he was an exceptional talent with something to say on a variety of issues both inside and outside of the world of sports,” said Brian Long, PD of KOGO and XTRA Sports 1360. “This is an exciting opportunity for KOGO listeners to experience a new voice and perspective on the station.” The addition of Not Sports with Darren Smith and Jack Cronin will shift KOGO at Night with Chris Merrill back to 8-10pm weeknights.
