Gello Ready To Drive Phoenix Home
• Desert Valley Media Group Rhythmic KKFR (Power 98.3 & 96.1)/Phoenix keeps it firmly in the family and moves longtime station vet Gello up from middays to afternoon drive, replacing Crisco, who recently left.
Ben “DJ Complex” Romero, PD of Power 98.3, said, “The key to Power’s success is building a family. You can’t win the streets if you’re not winning the halls, so when it was time to find the right person to replace Crisco I couldn’t think of a better person who is already family then Gello.”
Jeff Trumper, Pres./CEO of Desert Valley Media Group, commented, “Gello is the person you’d most like to sit and have a beer with — funny, affable, approachable and genuine. He has impeccable talent and understands the Hip Hop listeners and communicates the brand extremely well. Gello, along with Dana Cortez in morning drive will be a formidable team covering mornings and afternoons on Power.”
Remember that Gello got his start as an intern at KKFR back in the day and worked his way up. He also did mornings at Beasley Classic Hip Hop WMGC (105.1 The Bounce)/Detroit for a few years and continued to do his Power show remotely. He left The Bounce last year and recently returned to Phoenix.
Gello exclaimed, “Finally, I’m coming home, Phoenix! I’m so grateful for this moment! From Solano elementary to Phoenix College (I couldn’t afford ASU). Back to where I started my radio career, at the legendary Power 98.3 & 96.1, Where Hip Hop Has Always Lived. I’m cheesing like a five-year-old. Jeff and Complex, this means everything! Thank you.”
