Green Light To Cross The Street

Brian and CrissyTownsquare Media Country WGNA/Albany, NY seriously shook up the market yesterday with its major morning show announcement — the station has acquired the talents of market vets Brian Cody and Chrissy Cavotta, longtime hosts of The Fly Morning Rush across the street at Pamal Top 40 WFLY (Fly 92.3). Cody is 22-year veteran of WFLY and has been partnered with Cavotta in mornings since August 2006. Prior to joining WFLY in 2006, Cavotta did middays on Nassau Broadcasting Classic Hits WFNK (107.5 Frank FM)/Portland, ME. Earlier in her career she did middays on Entercom Top 40 WKSE/Buffalo and nights on WMBX/West Palm Beach.

In a statement, Cody said, “Chrissy, our producer Jess and I are all incredibly excited about the opportunity to go to work for WGNA. The opportunity to make such a move and to still be entrenched in the community is amazing. We respect and recognize the power and tradition behind this radio station, and we’re going to have a lot of fun waking up the Country audience in Albany!”

WGNA Brand Manager Matty Jeff commented, “We are thrilled to have Brian and Chrissy on-board as the WGNA morning team. Their talent, chemistry and huge local following will greatly enhance WGNA’s already legendary and stellar reputation in Albany.” Townsquare Media Albany Market President Jake Demmin added, “We are extremely excited to have this exceptionally talented morning team join the Townsquare Media family.”

• Cody and Cavotta succeed Sean McMaster, who recently left WGNA after over two decades and has already resurfaced across the street at Pamal AC WYJB (B95.5) as the new host of The Breakfast Club, plugging in across from Meredith McNeil. He succeeds Bill Fox, who is now doing mornings at Townsquare Media Country WOKQ/Portsmouth, NH.
