KFOX Realigns Drivetime

• Bonneville International-operated Classic Rock KUFX (98.5 KFOX)/San Jose-San Francisco makes two big drivetime moves — market vet Joe Vlazny, a.k.a. Joey V, will take command of mornings, while San Jose rock legend Chris Jackson moves from mornings to afternoon drive, beginning Monday, April 16.

Vlazny (left) was most recently APD/Imaging Director and morning show co-host at Throwback KRBQ (Q102)/San Francisco until January of this year. Vlazny is a longtime Bay Area radio pro whose previous market stops include KNGY (Energy 92.7)KOSF (Big 103.7) and KBWF (95.7 The Wolf). His radio career has also taken him to Chicago and Dallas. “Joey’s smart work ethic, strong creativity and passion for our business elevates our brand awareness,” said Brian Figula, PD of 98.5 KFOX. “I look forward to adding him to the team with Chris Jackson to dominate the San Jose radio market.”

Jackson (right) returns to the afternoon airshift he originally inhabited on K-FOX when he started there on March 4, 1991. He fills the on-air void created when former PD Tim Jeffreys left in March and returned to his hometown of Boulder, CO. Vlazny said, “Not being on the radio was driving me nuts! Sleeping in ’til 10am every day was nice, but three months of that was enough. I was incredibly honored to even be considered to work on a South Bay institution like KFOX. Taking over mornings from the legendary Chris Jackson certainly adds some pressure to the gig, but I’m excited for the challenge.”
