Leap Of The Freakin’ Week™
This week’s leader in the clubhouse is Miguel “Mijo” Irizarry, who is about to embark on the neck-snapping journey from Portland, ME (Market 95) to sunny Miami (Market 11). Mijo is the newly anointed evening entertainer at CBS Radio Rhythmic WPOW (Power 96)/Miami, beginning Monday, August 28. He will be wrapping up his current two-year tour of duty at Mainestream Media Rhythmic WHTP (Hot 104.7)/Portland, ME, where he wears multiple hats of afternoon jock, MD, Imaging Director and Mix Show Coordinator, to name a few.
The announcement of Mijo’s acquisition was made by Rob Morris, VP of Programming of CBS Radio Miami and PD of Power 96, who said, “We searched the country far and wide to find the perfect fit to continue the Power 96 Miami legacy! We can’t wait to get Mijo down here, on the air, in the streets and under the palm trees!”
A second-generation broadcaster, Mijo began his radio career at Cumulus Rhythmic WWKX (Hot 106.3)/Providence in 2010. Following a stint in nights at the former WRDW (Wired 96.5)/Philadelphia, he arrived in beautiful Portland in March 2015. Looking ahead to his sultry new adventure, Mijo exclaimed, “‘Excited’ doesn’t begin to justify the feeling of joining such an incredible team at CBS Radio Miami and Power 96. Mil gracias to Rob and [Power 96 APD/MD] Will Calder for allowing me to become the newest member of such a super talented group!” Mijo will succeed Ivy “Unleashed,“ who was recently elevated to afternoon drive.
