Maloney A Sports Capitol Improvement
• Veteran Washington, DC sports reporter and anchor Carol Maloney is joining Cumulus Media’s recently launched Washington, DC Sports-Talk outlet WSBN (ESPN 630, The Sports Capitol) as host of The Carol Maloney Show, which debuts tomorrow, August 6 and runs weekdays from 10am to Noon ET. The show will feature commentary, guests, listener call-ins, and contributions from ESPN 630’s Andy Pollin.
Maloney has covered DC sports since 2001, working for Comcast SportsNet and NBC Sports Washington, and has served as a beat reporter for all major pro teams in the city. She also spent several years as the lead sports anchor for NBC’s powerhouse WRC-TV4/Washington. In 2007 Maloney joined DC sports anchor Dave Feldman as co-host of the Feldman & Maloney Show on WTEM.
Bill Hess, PD of Cumulus Washington, DC, said, “I’ve admired Carol’s energy, passion, and journalism since we first worked together a dozen years ago. Her relationships with the players, coaches, reporters, and sports fans in our town are unmatched.”
Maloney exclaimed, “I couldn’t be more thrilled and thankful for this opportunity. I’ve spent most of my career in the nation’s capital passionately following and covering the sports teams in town. Luckily, I’ve made a lot of friends and contacts along the way and will be calling on all of them. It’ll be ‘Carol & Company.’ Can’t wait to get started!” Maloney will continue to serve as a field reporter and show host for MASN — the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network — for Washington Nationals’ baseball telecasts.
