Michigan: Holmes Sweet Holmes
• Michigan radio vet Brian Holmes has signed on to do afternoons on Up North Radio Classic Hits WBZX (B103.9)/Big Rapids, MI, starting in early April. He will also jump in as an Account Exec for WBZX and its two clustermates — Classic Rock WCKC (107.1 The Drive)/Cadillac and Top 40 WCDY (107.9 CDY)/Cadillac.
This move marks a reunion for Holmes and Up North co-owner Dom Theodore, as they worked together at WFLZ/Tampa and WILN & WYYX/Panama City, FL in the late ’90s. Theodore commented, “Brian is the rare combination of talent and true passion for great radio, and after 20-plus years of friendship and lots of great history, I’m thrilled that we get to reunite at our very own company. This is going to be some of the most fun we’ve had in years!”
Holmes said, “Over 20 years ago, Dom talked of his dreams of owning his own stations. Watching him and GM Jen Theodore build their dream has been incredible. They have built three incredible-sounding radio stations and even better, a live and local staff that feels just like family. I’m honored to come on board and be a part of it all, playin’ the ’80s and More on B103.9!”
Jen Theodore remarked, “Brian is a high impact personality who will be a great addition to the Up North Radio family. He understands the creative culture and commitment to true local radio that we are building here, and I’m thrilled that he’s teaming up with us.”
Holmes is best known for his ten-year run as APD/night jock at WSNX/Grand Rapids, MI from 2005-2015. More recently he was APD/evening entertainer at Mid-West Family Broadcasting Rhythmic WJQM (93.1 Jamz)/Madison, WI.
