MPR News Welcomes Vicki Adame

Vicki Adame has joined Minnesota Public Radio’s MPR News as the newsroom’s Report for America journalist, focusing on the coverage of Minnesota’s Latino communities. Adame is a member of the 2021-2022 reporter corps with Report for America, a national service reporting program that places journalists nationally to meet an identified need in coverage. She will serve a one-year term in the MPR newsroom, beginning immediately, with an opportunity to continue for a second year. Adame will be based in St. Paul, with frequent statewide travel to reach Latino communities in both the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota.

An award-winning multimedia journalist, Adame has extensive experience reporting on communities of color, including Latino communities in California and Washington. A two-time recipient of the C.B. Blethen Memorial Award for Distinguished Coverage of Diversity, Adame is fluent in Spanish and has had her work published in outlets including Palabra, Latino Rebels, Latino USA and CTLatinoNews. Adame earned a master’s degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York.

“I’m thrilled to be joining MPR News as the reporter covering the Latino community throughout the state,” said Adame. “I hope to be able to tell the stories of Latinos in Minnesota and by doing so, bring about a better understanding of this vibrant and rapidly growing community. I look forward to meeting the leaders, business owners and everyday people and becoming a part of the community.” Adame is accepting potential story ideas at vadame@mpr.org.
