Mr. Shmonty Goes To Washington
Eric Ashmont, host of Shmonty in the Morning on Arizona Lotus Alternative KFMA (Rock 102.1) is leaving at the end of March — his wife has accepted a major employment opportunity in the DC area. The announcement was made by OM Larry Mac, who said, “I’m sad to see Shmonty go, but life happens, and I wish him and his wife the best. I want to thank him for helping put KFMA back on the map in Tucson morning radio! Wherever he lands next will be very lucky to have this, hardworking humorous gentlemen on their airstaff. We are going miss him.”
Shmonty has been with KFMA since late 2014, having previously worked at KDKB/Phoenix, WCCC/Hartford, CT; Radio 2GB in Sydney, Australia and WRRV/Poughkeepsie, NY. GM Ken Kwilosz commented, “Shmonty will be missed by all of us. He joined our team wanting to boost our morning show ratings with his talent and humor and he did just that. I’m sure that he’ll continue to entertain audiences when he lines up his next big gig. Thanks, Shmonty!” Shmonty remarked, “I’d like to thank Larry Mac and Ken Kwilosz for the opportunity to contribute to the growth and further success of KFMA. I’m proud of all that we accomplished and am excited for what my radio future holds when I move with my wife to Rockville, MD.”

Beef Vegan, who currently produces Shmonty in the Morning will be staying with mornings on KFMA.
