Now Entering Sacramento: Abe Kanan
• Audacy has acquired the talents of major market veteran Abe Kanan as the new afternoon personality on Mainstream Rock KRXQ (98 Rock)/Sacramento, starting Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Kanan most recently co-hosted the morning show alongside Angi Taylor on iHeartMedia’s WCHI (Rock 95.5)/Chicago until last July. Kanan is longtime Windy City radio pro who previously worked across the street at WKQX (Q101) and the late WLUP (97.9 The Loop). Earlier stops include WBGG/Miami, mornings (via voicetrack) at WNDX (93.9X)/Indianapolis in 2019, and he notably hosted his own show on SiriusXM’s Howard 101 channel.
“Abe is a well-rounded on-air talent with an incredible understanding of this industry, including the technical skills behind the mic,” said Stacey Kauffman, Regional Vice President, Audacy Sacramento. “We’re excited to bring him aboard and have him lead afternoons for this legendary local favorite through his humor, creativity and insight.”
Kanan commented, “I am so excited to create the show I’ve always wanted to do on one of the most iconic radio stations in the country. There aren’t many heritage Rock stations left, and 98 Rock is alive and well. The station is everything a rock station should be — covering every era — and I’m excited to play new rock music. My compliments to all of the fantastic people at Audacy for making this happen. Now, I need to find the best burger and sub sandwich in Sacramento.”
