• The RAMP crew would like to extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery to our former R&R colleague Lon Helton, the Publisher/CEO of Country Aircheck and the host of the Westwood One-syndicated Country Countdown USA, who was recently diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
Lon is currently resting at home and is expected to make a full recovery. In the meantime, Lon’s many industry friends are encouraged to drop him a note of support via email at lon@countryaircheck.com.
• Congrats to McConnell “Man @ Large” Adams, afternoon delight on iHeartMedia Top 40 KGOT/Anchorage, AK who successfully expanded his broadcast footprint this past weekend when he made his Lower 48 debut on sister KKCW (K103)/Portland, OR (as just plain “McConnell”).
According to numerous eyewitness reports, Adams delighted a whole new segment of America via the majesty of voicetracking. No injuries were reported, and he is expected to repeat his charming performance this coming weekend.
• This morning in scenic Wisconsin, Midwest Communications’ Country WNCY (Y100)/Green Bay-Appleton-Oshkosh introduces a fresh new morning show that features a couple of very familiar voices — the newly created Shotgun & Charli features Randy “Shotgun” Shannon, who moves up from middays and plugs in across the console from 12-year morning show co-host Charli McKenzie.
Shannon succeeds 18-year morning co-host Henry “The Bear” Goddard, who recently retired. Goddard did his final show on June 26, closing the book on a 40-year radio career. Brand Manager Dan Stone commented, “Shotgun & Charli” share a great chemistry and this show is going to be a ton of fun!” Look for more adjustments to the Y100 lineup soon.
