Pinfield Signing Off From KFOG
After just over a year as morning host on Cumulus Media’s legendary KFOG/San Francisco, renowned radio and television personality and rock journalist Matt Pinfield announced he is relinquishing his daily position on the morning show in order to fully focus on his two Westwood One-syndicated radio shows — the weekly rock history show, Flashback and his nightly show, 2Hours With Matt Pinfield. Justin Wittmayer, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media San Francisco, said, “We thank Matt for his contributions to KFOG and wish him all the best moving forward as he continues to entertain radio audiences through his two national radio shows.”
Pinfield caught the radio bug at Rutgers University’s WRSU-FM, and in 1984 he embarked on a decade-long stint with Jersey Shore Alternative WHTG/Monmouth-Ocean. In 1995 Pinfield was named as the host of MTV’s iconic 120 Minutes. He later joined the MTV Music and Talent department and hosted several shows and specials during his time there. In 2001 Pinfield joined Columbia Records as VP of A&R and Artist Development. He returned to television five years later as host of VH1’s VSpot Top 20 Countdown and HDNet’s Soundoff with Matt Pinfield. In 2008, Pinfield embarked on a multi-year run co-hosting the morning show with Leslie Fram) on the now defunct WRXP/New York. He joined KFOG in April of 2016.
Pinfield commented, “I’d like to thank my family at KFOG and Cumulus San Francisco, who I love dearly, for giving me the freedom to concentrate on my two national radio shows for Westwood One, time to focus on my book, and to continue to work on developing TV and film projects. I love the Bay Area and being part of the legacy of such a heritage radio station as KFOG!”
