• For Greg Tanner, there is [TV] life after radio — he’s packing for his new media opportunity as morning weather anchor at NBC-TV affiliate KMTR-TV/Eugene, OR, starting Sept. 6. Tanner (left) notably did nights on Entercom Top 40 KUDL (106.5 The End) until May of this year. Since then he’s been keeping his chops up doing weekends at Results Radio Classic Hits KCCL (101.5 K-Hits)/Sacramento.

This is not Tanner’s television debut — prior to his 2013 arrival in Sacramento, Tanner spent three years as Morning Traffic Anchor for Fox affiliate WFTX-TV/Fort Myers, FL. His earlier radio experience includes six years as MD/morning host at Cox Media’s WMXQ/Jacksonville, FL and afternoons at Entercom Top 40 WXSS (103.7 Kiss FM)/Milwaukee. As Tanner explained to RAMP, “I’ve always been interested in weather — more than the average person — so this is a great opportunity!” Tanner can be congratulated at greg@gregtannermedia.com.

• Alpha Media personality David Van Camp, co-host of The Markley and Van Camp Show is broadcasting live all this week from the front lines of the North Korean conflict — yes, the tiny island of Guam. Van Camp commented, “What I’m most interested in, is talking to everyday people. What do they think about when they see all of this coverage, when they see how much focus there is on their home and, really, just tell their story.” Bruce Collins, Talk Operations Manager for Alpha Media Portland, said, “How many radio companies give you the chance to go and cover such a huge, huge story like this, that’s occurring half way across the world in 2017? Let’s pray for the safety of all the people in the US territory of Guam.”

The Markley and Van Camp Show is based at Alpha Media News-Talk WMBD/Peoria, IL and is also carried on KXL/Portland, OR, KFQD/Anchorage, Tyler Media’s KOKC-Oklahoma City and is heard weekends on Cox Media Group’s WDBO/Orlando.
