Sonic Boom Rocks Chicago
• Congrats to San Diego radio vet Sean “Sonic” Leckie, who is making a major move to Chicago to do afternoon drive on Entercom Classic Hip Hop WBMX (104.3 Jams), starting tomorrow. “Sonic brings a passion for music and drive to succeed to 104.3 Jams,” said Jimmy de Castro, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Chicago. “We’re looking forward to having him take the helm of Chicago’s new afternoon drive show.”
Sonic most recently co-hosted the morning show on former Entercom Top 40 KEGY (Energy 103.7)/San Diego until it flipped to Sports-Talk in March. He got his first radio break as an intern for AJ’s Playhouse on iHeartMedia Top 40 KHTS (Channel 933)/San Diego, and later went on to produce the show and do nights there. After an 18-month stint in afternoons at iHeartMedia Top 40 WWPW (Power 96.1)/Atlanta, Sonic returned to San Diego in October 2014 to do afternoons on Energy 103.7, moving up to mornings in Sept. 2017.
“Thank you to everyone at Entercom that has believed in and supported me from the beginning,” Sonic said. “It’s a great feeling to know that your company truly cares about you. My hat is off to Jimmy de Castro, Bob Bolinger, Todd Cavanah, Kevin Callahan, Jeremy Pritchard and Erik Bradley for this opportunity. I’m more than excited to call 104.3 Jams and Chicago my home!”
