Tony Cortez Reappears, Like Magic

RAMP initially broke this story last week, and now it’s a done deal — market vet Tony Cortez has joined Cox Media Group Hot AC KSMG (Magic 105.3)/San Antonio to do 7-midnight. “Tony’s style, experience and love for our great city make him the perfect addition to our Magic team,” says Jeff Garrison, Director of Operations for CMG San Antonio. “He’s sure to bring a new level of fun and energy to our evening listeners.”

Cortez is an 18-year presence on Alamo City radio — he notably spent seven years across the street atAlpha Media Top 40 KTFM (Energy 94.1), starting in mornings in January 2011 and rising to APD/afternoon personality, where he remained until his departure in August 2018. He previously spent five years as MD/night jock at iHeartMedia Top 40 KXXM (Mix 96.1)/San Antonioand three years as APD/MD/afternoon talent at KHFI/Austin.
