Toronto Mornings Now Extra Niice
• The “popification” of Toronto is now in full swing as Bell Media’s CHUM 104.5 announces the arrival of Jamar “J-Niice” McNeil as its new morning co-host, plugging in alongside the legendary, long-running morning team of Roger Ashby and Marilyn Denis.
The New York-born McNeil spent the past decade as host of The J Show on Entercom Top 40 WBBM-FM (B96)/Chicago until April of this year. He began his radio career doing weekends at iHeartMedia Top 40 WIHT (Hot 99.5)/Washington and went on to do nights at Top 40 siblings WAKS (96.5 Kiss FM)/Cleveland and WHYI (Y-100)/Miami before arriving at B96 in 2008.
“Toronto is both a hotbed for music and one of my favorite cities in the world, so I’m thrilled to head north of the border to join the great team at CHUM 104.5,” said McNeil. “I’m particularly excited to spend each morning alongside two radio legends, Roger and Marilyn. Together we’ll wake up the 6ix with the summer’s hottest hits every day.”
McNeil added, “I’d like to thank iHeart and Bell Media for this amazing opportunity. I’d also like to thank my agent Paul Anderson for connecting the dots on this deal. After my departure in Chicago we had very specific requirements we wanted to hit for our next venture and he without question NAILED it with Toronto and CHUM-FM. This is such an exciting moment.”
