Twin Gigs For Twin Cities’ Woody
• Twin Cities’ radio pro Robert “Woody” Nelson has been hired in the dual role of midday personality for Cumulus Classic Rock 92KQRS/Minneapolis and Creative Imaging Director for KQRS and Active Rock KXXR (93X).
The good news is, Nelson won’t need directions to get to his new gig — he was previously night jock and Production Director for 93X from 2011-2020. He also created and hosts several successful podcasts and has worked in commercial voiceover for more than a decade, including a prestigious stint as the voice of the “Pillsbury Doughboy Giggle” in Canada. No, seriously.
James Kurdziel, RVP of Content and Programming, Cumulus Media and PD of 92KQRS, said, “We have a vision for KQ now and into the future. Woody fulfills this vision. His skillset, talent and market equity make him the obvious choice as we continue to evolve Minnesota’s Classic Rock station, 92KQRS.” 93X PD Derek Madden commented, “Woody has been an integral part of the culture and vibe at 93X for many years, and I’m thrilled that he’s going to be using his unique talent to continue to help us craft our sound and vision. It’s a great day in our building.”
Woody remarked, “This is probably how Shaq felt when he went to the Lakers! KQRS is a legendary radio station. I’m privileged to join a whole team of hall-of-famers and excited to return to work with all my talented friends at Cumulus Minneapolis.” Nelson makes his KQRS debut on Monday, Sept. 13.
