WDRQ/Detroit Inks Kennedy For Middays
• UPDATED: Cumulus Media’s WDRQ (New Country 93.1)/Detroit has hired Kevin Kennedy as its new midday personality, starting later this week.
The move marks a tearful radio reunion for Kennedy and David Corey, Director of FM Programming for WDRQ and WDVD — Kennedy (pictured with Kelsea Ballerini) previously worked for Corey at Beasley Country WKLB/Boston, where he did afternoon drive for four years until May 2019, when he relocated to Atlanta for family reasons. Earlier in his career Kennedy did mornings at iHeartMedia Rhythmic AC WMOV (MOViN 107-7)/Norfolk.
Fun Fact: Kennedy is the artist formerly known as Nudge At Night, whose resume includes KIIS-FM/Los Angeles, WIOQ/Philadelphia, WHYI/Miami, KDWB/Minneapolis and WSTR (Star 94)/Atlanta, to name a few. He also anchored Nudge in the Morning on KVDU (Voodoo 104)/New Orleans and has worked at Dial Global and Benztown Radio Networks.
“I’m super-excited to reunite with Kevin on WDRQ,” said Corey. “Kevin is a massive talent, and we are lucky to have him.” Kennedy replaces Rachel Ryan, who has been tracking the shift from Cumulus Dallas for the last four months.
