Winterble Trades San Diego For Charlotte
• UPDATED: Entercom News-Talk WBT (1110AM & 99.3FM)/Charlotte welcomes radio veteran Brett Winterble aboard as afternoon drive host, starting Monday at 3pm. Winterble steps into the large shoes of WBT Hall of Famer John Hancock, who announced his retirement in October 2019.
Winterble arrives in Charlotte from KFMB/San Diego, where he has hosted afternoon drive since 2015. [Ed. note: KFMB and KFMB-FM are in the process of being sold by TEGNA to Local Media San Diego]. Winterble’s 20-year radio and television career also include afternoon drive on KFWB/Los Angeles, and producing for Michael Reagan and Rush Limbaugh.
“Brett Winterble represents the future of audio,” said Matt Hanlon, SVP/Market Manager, Entercom Charlotte. “When John Hancock took this exact seat on WBT 30 years ago he was a progressive-minded voice in the market, placing an emphasis on issues that affected the community. Brett takes on a similar role in a new and meaningful way for our loyal audience. He cares about the listener and demonstrates a genuine interest in the community. We’re thrilled that Brett is joining our team.”
Winterble remarked, “WBT is an iconic station with a legendary history of serving Charlotte for almost a century. When I was offered the chance to take the WBT listener family and our sponsor partners with me into our next hundred years, I was excited beyond words.” WBT has supported the community of Charlotte for nearly 98 years, and Winterble will continue this commitment to service as WBT approaches its centennial celebration in 2022.
