Condolences: Dr. Roger Wimmer

• Noted educator and research guru Dr. Roger Wimmer, Ph.D., a noted pioneer of music testing, died Saturday, October 13 at his home in Lakewood, CO, surrounded by family and friends. He was 69 years old and had courageously battled cancer for the past four years.

Wimmer most recently operated his own firm, Wimmer Research. His impressive industry resume includes a stint as Manager of Research for Cox Broadcasting in Atlanta, and he was co-Founder of Wimmer-Hudson Research & Development, President/CEO & co-Founder of The Eagle Group, President/General Partner and co-Founder of Paragon Research, and President of Surrey Research.

Wimmer, who earned his Ph.D. in Mass Media Research from Bowling Green State University also shared his extensive knowledge in his capacity as an instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Asst. Professor at the University of Mississippi, Associate Professor at the University of Georgia, and as an adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He was also the co-author of the indispensible college textbook, Mass Media Research, which has been reprinted in more than a dozen languages around the world.

Dr. Wimmer is survived by his wife, Darnell, sons Shad and Jeremy, stepson Leigh and a brother. [Special thanks to Dave Beasing and Jhani Kaye]
