iHeartMedia Executive Action

Last week iHeartMedia announced a realignment of its Markets Group, naming five new Division Presidents and awarded additional responsibilities to Kevin LeGrett and Tony Coles. Now, the rest of the story — as part of this executive restructuring, RAMP has learned that New York Division President Scott Hopeck will exit, while Florida Division President Kim Guthrie will remain as a strategic advisor to iHeartMedia for the next three years.

Those moves were confirmed in an internal memo from iHeartMedia Chairman & CEO Bob Pittman and President, COO & CFO Rich Bressler, which did note that Guthrie will become a Strategic Advisor to iHeart for the next three years.

Hopeck (left) had been with the company for nearly two decades, and had served as New York Market President since 2015. He was also one of four newly named Division Presidents in July 2018. Before arriving in NYC Hopeck held the same role for iHeart Phoenix. Hopeck earlier served as SVP of Sales for iHeartMedia Atlanta and GM of the company’s Atlanta Braves Radio Network. Prior to iHeartMedia, Hopeck held executive positions at CBS Radio and Viacom.

Guthrie (right) joined iHeartMedia in June 2022 as Division President of iHeartMedia Florida, succeeding the retiring Linda Byrd. She previously spent 22 years with Cox Media Group, rising to President/CEO before her departure in May 2020. Guthrie originally joined CMG in 1998 as VP/GM of its Long Island radio group before working her way up through the ranks to become EVP of Radio. In 2015 she was named President of CoxReps and EVP of the company’s National Ad Platform business, which includes Gamut and Videa, a position she held until Jan. 1, 2017, when she was formally promoted to President of Cox Media Group, and was awarded CEO stripes in August 2019.
