A Sterling Celebration
• Sterling on Sunday, Westwood One’s syndicated Sunday night talk show celebrated its one-year anniversary this past Sunday, August 19. The show is hosted by radio storyteller Walter Sterling, a.k.a. Walter Sabo, and it marked its anniversary with the addition of several new affiliates.
Sterling on Sunday now airs live from 10pm-1am ET on over 60 radio stations, including flagship WPHT-AM/Philadelphia as well as WLS-AM/Chicago; KMOX-AM/St. Louis; WBAP-AM/Dallas; WMAL-AM-FM/Washington, DC; KDKA-AM/Pittsburgh; KNXT-AM/Las Vegas; KKSF-AM/San Francisco and KUFO-AM/Portland.
“My goal is to create a pretty distracting show to take the listener from the weekend to the weekday,” says Sterling. “We’ve grown from one affiliate, WPHT in Philadelphia, to over 60 major market FMs in a year — we have stations from iHeart, Alpha, Cumulus, Entercom and Townsquare. The most prized affiliate —The Point in Guam, which clears live. Industry support has been exemplary and it’s quite humbling.” Stations interested in Sterling on Sunday should contact Stuart Greenblatt at sgreenblatt@westwoodone.com or 212-419-2946.
